Gaming dads and Star Wars fans rejoice! A new Star Wars™ game is on the way and, from the look of the trailer, it is going to be awesome! In fact, Star Wars: Squadrons might just be the game you are looking for…
Star Wars: Squadrons promises to be an immersive, first-person space dogfighting experience. If that sentence alone didn’t get your attention, I don’t know what will. There have been many, many Star Wars games over the years and its fair to say they have been hit and miss, but Squadrons most definitely looks like it will land in the “hit category”.
Most importantly, the developers of Star Wars: Squadrons appear to understand Star Wars fans and seem dedicated to providing the best possible gaming experience. According to Ian Frazier, the Creative Director of Motive Studios:
“We created this game for every Star Wars fan who has ever dreamt about soaring across the galaxy in their favourite starfighter. Through the collaboration of the teams at Motive and Lucasfilm, we’ve been able to create a high-fidelity starfighter experience with an authentic storyline that invites Star Wars fans to explore never-before-seen corners of the galaxy in their own ship.”
Of course, the first battle will simply be choosing on which side to enlist as a starfighter. It’s no big deal… except the future of the Galaxy might just rest in your hands. There are a range of ships from both the New Republic and Imperial Fleets, including the legendary X-wing and TIE Fighter. I’ve always thought black was more my colour, just quietly…
Multiplayer 5v5 dogfights appear to be the star of the show, but there is also a single-player story that brings to life events following the Battle of Endor. According to EA, the authentic story will feature a diverse cast of original characters, as well as some cameos from familiar faces in the Star Wars Galaxy. Nice!
I’m excited! With a release date of October 2, 2020, the wait shouldn’t be too painful. EA are taking pre-orders now. Origin Access Premier subscribers will get full access to Star Wars: Squadrons on PC.
