My Sunday Photo – The Kill

My Sunday Photo – The Kill

My Sunday Photo for this week is titled: The Kill. I thought about publishing a sunrise landscape to remind everyone what outside looked like, but it was only a couple of days ago that I took this shot and a photo from during lockdown seemed appropriate.

It was about a month ago that I last wrote a My Sunday Photo post, in fond memory of a time when writers and photographers from all over the world gathered each Sunday to share photos and admire each-others work. The #MySundayPhoto was part of my routine and it meant I had at least one focus for a post each week!

So I was pretty excited when Darren from Photalife decided to bring it back (at least for a short time)!

I was working at my desk when I noticed a pesky fly that had been bothering me all morning meet its demise. I rushed upstairs and grabbed my macro lens to try and get a detailed shot of the scene. I’m a bit rusty when it comes to the macro lens, but after quite attempts I managed to capture the shot I was after.

I’m thrilled to be linked up to the excellent #MySundayPhoto linky. It’s hosted by Darren Coleshill on the website Photalife. I highly recommend you click on the link (or the badge below) and check out everyone’s photos.

Impressive shot! How lucky this happened on a white background. Poor fly though, or is that just the way of the world?? great to have #MySundayphoto back for a bit, yes? Hope you’re keeping well.

It actually happened on a window, but the depth of field is very narrow so it made an interesting effect. I’d say that is the way of the world – I enjoyed my chicken for dinner tonight, after all. Besides, the spider was a pro. I don’t think the fly had much time to comprehend its fate!

Thanks! It took a few goes to get so much in focus, but I was very happy with the result!

He is a tiny little spider, wouldn’t be more that a cm from end to end. A beautiful creature doing me a great favour!

So much detail, lovely photo. I used to link up weekly to #mysundayphoto with a construction project documenting life in Dubai, I haven’t written one since Darren stopped doing this, I really must get back into the swing of it
