My Sunday Photo – Japan Details Black and White
My Sunday Photo for the past few weeks has been all about Japan. That’s because a year ago we were there on our amazing Japan adventure. To be honest, I’d love to be there right now and doing it all again. Instead, I’ll have to stick with fondly flicking through my photo albums.
This week I have decided to go with something a little different – some black & white photos that are focussed on details, lines, and the play between light and shadow rather than the full subject. I don’t know if they are technically “abstract” – I think in most of these photos you can tell what it was that was photographed. But they are definitely different to my usual offerings.

What do you think? Are they interesting photos, or should I stick to my usual – photos of actual stuff?
As always on a Sunday, I’m linked up to the excellent #MySundayPhoto linky. It’s hosted by Darren Coleshill on the website Photalife. I highly recommend you click on the link (or the badge below) and check out everyone’s photos.

No way you cheeky larikin. Always be diverse, try new things and definitely go abstract. It’s the abstract stuff on y Unsplash page that has proven to be most popular! Love these images. They do work very well. You get so much atmosphere in B&W. Love it. #mysundayphoto
It adds a whole new dimension to the photos in black in white. The water one is perfect.
Have a good Sunday and thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
Hi James, I like what you’ve done with these photos, it’s good to try different things, that’s what makes life interesting. The black and white really highlights the lines and detail. I love the second photo down with all the different shades.

Oh wow! Japan really does look how I imagine it to be…. it’s a place on my bucket list to visit. I know once my kids grow up and leave home I’ll be there in a heartbeat! Gorgeous!
You have done a fantastic job with these images – the black and white looks so atmospheric and really suits the photographs. Beautiful.
Very striking images in Black and White, I hope you get to return one day.
I really like the building ones and the running water! It’s amazing how black and white can totally change a photo 🙂
