It is safe to say that summer is finally over. The long, hot days have been replaced by chilly mornings and freezing winds. The beach days and summer fun already a distant memory.
Yes, winter is well and truly on its way. And with winter comes the need to keep the little ones warm and rugged up, for a safe and comfortable night’s sleep.
Winter Grobags – Ollie The Owl
You know I love Grobags! I talk about them a lot (here, here, here and here…), and the reason is that they have been a key part of Hannah’s sleeping routine for a long time. I love them because she loves them – they must provide a great sense of snugness and comfort. Best of all, Hannah sleeps through the night – every night- when she is comfortably inside her Grobags.
Take one look at this Ollie The Owl Grobag and tell me you don’t wish (even just a little bit) that they made an adult-sized version. Everything about it is soft, warm and comfortable!
Ollie The Owl has featured on Blog of Dad before. This adorable Grobag would be great for toddlers who are smitten with their Ollie cot companion. Even for those toddlers who have never had their own Ollie, the fun and friendly owl face would be attractive.
The velour front outer of the Ollie The Owl Grobag is super soft. It is as tempting to pat as the patch on Hannah’s Panda-monium Grobag was, except this time it covers almost all of the front. I have no doubt that Hannah is going to have to deal with a few extra strokes from her parents, when we go in to check on her each night before we go to bed.
Everything else about this 2.5 tog Grobag is the usual Gro excellence. It feels well-made and robust – more than strong enough to survive a few winters. The zip is strong, but it consistently glides smoothly. The poppers close into place with that satisfying “click” sound that lets you know that your toddler is safely secured.
The Ollie The Owl Grobag is easy to maintain. It is machine washable and it can be tumble-dried. The quick-dry polyester filling is great for allowing such a thick piece of bedding to dry in a very reasonable time.
The Ollie The Owl Grobag is a great addition to Hannah’s extensive Grobag collection and I have no doubt that it will help to keep her warm through even the coldest nights this winter.
Hannah takes after me quite a lot in the way she sleeps. She has adopted a style that can best be described as “an active sleeper”. So while she consistently sleeps right through the night, that sleep contains plenty of wriggling and adjusting.
The Grobags have been great for allowing Hannah a bit of movement – at least enough for her to stay comfortable. But Gro have a new product that might just be able to give her even more freedom and comfort in the cot. That product is the Groromper.
The Gro Company sent Hannah a Blue Stripe Groromper to try out this winter. While it hasn’t been cold enough for her to give it a test run yet, I would say we are only days away from needing it. The 2.5 tog rating will be sure to keep Hannah comfortably warm. Sensible inclusions, like the breathable underarm mesh, should ensure that the temperature inside the romper is regulated, keeping Hannah safe.
The Gro Company describe the Groromper as an all in one bedding solution. Like Grobags, it can be used in place of blankets or a duvet.
I like the look of it a lot. It will give Hannah an extra bit of freedom to move around and get perfectly comfortable in her cot. I also think it could be just the thing to help her begin to transition out of sleep bags – something she is going to have to do by the end of this year when she outgrows their largest size.
Now is the time to get ready for winter, and ensure that your toddler is all warm and cosy as the temperature drops. These two excellent products from The Gro Company could be just the thing they need.
The Gro Company sent me the Ollie The Owl Grobag and the Groromper for Hannah to try this winter.
