My Sunday Photo – Birds and Flowers

There’s only one thing to do when the early autumn weather is this perfect – head to the park! That’s what we did yesterday, and we had a great time. Hannah likes the play equipment, but what she really enjoys doing is exploring the natural elements of the park. The birds and flowers both caught our attention this week.

There were plenty of ducks, and Hannah was able to get up-close and personal with a few. She was nervous to begin with, but soon she had worked up the courage to chase a few around the park. Her tiny hands got dangerously close to touching a few of them. I won’t lie, there was a part of me that was curious to see what she would do with one if she caught it. There were plenty of other birds around to enjoy…

Duck in the Shadows
Look at that beady red eye, lurking in the shadows. Thankfully Hannah didn’t try and mess with this one.

Water on flower
The flowers had just been watered.

Rainbow lorikeet
Nothing to see here, just a rainbow lorikeet choking on its drink… I briefly wondered if I would have to give a parrot the Heimlich, but it seemed to sort its self out.

Cockatoo
I captured this interesting photo of a cockatoo as it flew below some trees. I quite like the back-lit effect on the feathers and the shape of the wings.

As I reflect on my chosen photos for this week, I’m not sure I have done our park visit justice. The birds were not nearly as freaky as my pictures imply. We really did have fun with the birds and flowers – here is a normal-looking duck to prove it:
